Creating Career Interventions To Break Barriers

Morning Keynote Speaker

Richard Knowdell, NCDA Fellow

Richard Knowdell is the President of Career Research & Testing, Inc., and the author of six books, including Building a Career Development Program; Nine Steps For Effective Implementation. He has developed four popular career assessments that have been translated into nine languages. Knowdell will be presenting on  the Transferable Skill Assessment Tool That Even Works With Resistant Clients

Some job search and career changing clients are often suspicious and resistant to traditional paper-and-pencil or on-line assessment tools. Among the host of “informal” assessment tools available involve using card sorts. These tools are especially effective with dislocated workers, welfare-to-work clients and military members transitioning to the private sector. In this fast paced session, the presenter will administer and interpret a card sort assessment tool with the workshop attendees.

Attendees will:

  • receive a free assessment tool they can use over and over again with clients
  • learn which skills to highlight in job interviews
  • learn which skills to include on their resume
  • learn which skills to leave off the resume
  • learn which skills lead to client burnout
  • learn a technique that clients can use to quickly identify their motivated skills
